(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) reported that officers assisted in a seizure of fireworks on Tuesday, June 17, in which they confiscated hundreds of fireworks, with a total value of several thousand dollars.
According to CSPD, officers arrived around 6:30 p.m. at the scene in the 4500 block of Adieu Circle, near North Carefree Circle and Oro Blanco Drive, where they confiscated fireworks likely purchased in a neighboring state, including aerial display fireworks, mortars, and bottle rockets.
CSPD reminds the public that it is against the law for anyone to possess, store, sell, or use any fireworks within the city of Colorado Springs, with the exception of paper caps for toy guns and other paper cap fireworks containing no more than 1/2500 grain of explosive content per cap.
Those who are arrested for violations involving fireworks will have a mandatory court appearance, and conviction may carry a fine of up to $2,500 and up to 189 days in jail.
