Lainey Wilson brings Colorado Springs veteran and cancer survivor on stage at Denver’s Ball Arena

(DENVER) — During Lainey Wilson’s concert over the weekend at Denver’s Ball Arena, a Colorado Springs veteran and cancer survivor was brought on stage and celebrated as ‘Cowgirl of the Night’ on Saturday, Aug. 16.

FOX21 News Assignment Desk Manager Shane Crigger, who was attending the concert, captured the heartwarming moment on camera as the crowd cheered on the Colorado Springs local whose story brought many to tears.

In the video, Wilson is seen welcoming the woman on stage, who was holding an orange sign that included her story, before Wilson handed over the microphone.

“I wasn’t sure if I was going to be able to make it to this concert tonight,” she said. “For all the veterans here, this next song is for you and for all the remission cancer patients, we’re here, we’re here!”

The woman went on to say that she is from Colorado Springs and is a veteran, too. “Thank you so much for your service, thank you,” Wilson said before she honored the woman as ‘Cowgirl of the Night.’

“All you have to do is repeat after me,” Wilson said to the woman, who echoed the following phrase: “I am beautiful, I am smart, I can do anything, I am strong.”

“I am resilient,” the woman said, to which Wilson added, “You’re dang right; you’re fearless and Cowgirl of the Night.”

The video ends with Wilson handing a white cowgirl hat to the woman before helping her off the stage.
