(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) said the El Paso County Coroner’s Office has identified the motorcyclist killed in a crash on Maizeland Road as 26-year-old Megumi Morris.

According to CSPD, on Thursday, Oct. 2, at around 4:45 p.m., officers were called to the 4000 block of Maizeland Road just east of North Academy Boulevard about a crash. When police arrived, they determined a single motorcycle was traveling east on Maizeland Rd. when Morris lost control and crashed.

Medical personnel attempted life-saving measures, but Morris succumbed to her injuries.

The crash is still under investigation, but neither speed nor impairment appear to be factors in the crash.

According to CSPD, Morris is the 45th traffic fatality in Colorado Springs in 2025. At the same time in 2024, there were 40 traffic fatalities.
