PCSO: Man violates protection order after child exploitation arrest

(PUEBLO, Colo.) — A man arrested for having more than 1,000 explicit images of children was found in violation of a protection order three weeks after arrest, according to the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO).

PCSO said 43-year-old Matthew Phelps, who was arrested by PCSO detectives three weeks ago on a warrant for felony child exploitation, was arrested again on Tuesday, Oct. 14, for violating a protection order prohibiting him from having contact with anyone under the age of 18.

On Tuesday, PCSO detectives allegedly saw Phelps driving with a child in his vehicle. The child was identified as someone belonging to a friend of Phelps. Detectives conducted a traffic stop and arrested Phelps without incident. Phelps told detectives he knew he wasn’t supposed to be in contact with minors

Phelps was booked into the Pueblo County Jail and is being held without bond.
