VFW Post 6461 sets up donation boxes for shutdown victims in Fountain

(FOUNTAIN, Colo.) — Multiple donation boxes have been set up in Fountain to collect living essentials for those affected by the shutdown, as of Wednesday, Oct. 15, according to VFW Post 6461.

For those who wish to help locals impacted by the government shutdown, VFW Post 6461 is collecting donations of goods at several locations.

Donations can include any daily living essentials, such as toiletries, pet food, paper towels, diapers, or non-perishable food.

Donations will be distributed at the VFW Post 6461 to military families, whether active duty, reserves, veterans, or National Guard, as well as federal employees and others who are impacted. According to VFW Post 6461, they do their best not to turn anyone in need away.

Boxes for donations can be found at these locations in Fountain:

VFW Post 6461, located at 753 South Santa Fe Avenue

Fountain City Hall, located at 116 South Main Street, the box is in the main lobby

King Soopers, located at 6230 Timber Rail Point, near Mesa Ridge Parkway and Highway 85
