(COLORADO SPRINGS) —The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) has identified a pedestrian who died after suffering life threatening injuries in a crash on Thursday, Feb. 1. The pedestrian initially refused medical transport to the hospital but died several days later.
According to CSPD, officers originally responded around 3:20 p.m. on Feb. 1 to a crash involving a car and two pedestrians in the 3000 block of North Cascade Avenue, near the intersection with East Fillmore Street.
CSPD said both pedestrians refused medical transportation on the scene of the crash. After the crash, one of the pedestrians, identified as 78-year-old Josephine Cameron, began suffering from headaches and was taken to the hospital in a car. Once at the hospital, Cameron’s injuries were determined to be life-threatening.
Days later, on Feb. 6, Cameron died of her injuries at the hospital. The other involved pedestrian’s injuries are minor, CSPD said.
CSPD said this is the 8th traffic fatality in Colorado Springs in 2024. At this time in 2023, there had been 4 fatalities. The investigation into the crash is active and charges are pending against the driver of the involved car.
