(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Pike’s Peak Pride officially kicked off on Saturday, June 14, celebrating the LGBTQ+ community in the largest queer celebration in southern Colorado.
Organizers expected over 40,000 people to attend this year’s Pride event that took place both on Saturday and on Sunday, June 15, allowing people to show their Pride and support the LGBTQIA2+ community.
“The people, the atmosphere, the different things; so much colors going on,” said Kristine Frausto, a festival attendee. “I love it, definitely the people, I love the people. The culture here this season so far, there’s so many costumes and so many just different people. I love it.”
The weekend included a parade, live music, educational sessions, and community resources, Purple Mountain Recovery Sober Garden, Rainbow Youth Square, as well as over 160 vendors selling items ranging from tasty treats to arts and apparel, and more.
