(PUEBLO, Colo.) — On Saturday, Dec. 7, the Junior League of Pueblo hosted the 7th Annual Holiday with Heroes at the Rawlings Library, giving young people the opportunity to take part in fun activities with local heroes such as police officers, EMTs, firefighters, teachers, doctors, and veterans.
The youth were able to visit booths where they could do crafts, decorate cookies, take photos with Santa, and even write him a letter.
“We want our children and their families to know who heroes in their community are and be able to just know that friendly face,” said Melody Shuette, Communications Chair of the Junior League of Pueblo. “And if they see them out around town or have an interaction with them, they can think back to the fun they had with their hero and that they were able to kind of personalize that hero rather than just someone being in a uniform or scrubs or teaching them all day.”
All donations will go towards the purchase of “Sweet Cases,” a program that gives children in local foster agencies duffel bags filled with a blanket, stuffed animal, crayons, activity books, and hygiene.
