(EL PASO COUNTY, Colo.) — Envida is a ride service that helps adults with disabilities or impairments go to things like day programs, doctor’s appointments, and work.

The organization has a fleet of 30 vehicles, which drove 1.3 million miles in 2024–the equivalent to five trips around the earth!

This company has not only been impactful to its riders by giving them back their independence, but also by caring staff leaving a lasting impression on those they care for.

Christy, one of the riders for the last five years, said, “The drivers are just so nice.”

FOX21 News went on a ride-along with Envida’s driver of over seven years, John Thurston, to see what a day at Envida is like driving three of their normal clients around.

“It’s fulfilling knowing that you’re helping somebody have the best day they can have, when they have a disability,” Thurston said. “Making things as easy as possible–simple things as helping them with their bags as they walk out the door.”

Envida is different from other ride services because they will help you from your front door, all the way into your appointments or back into your house with light bags of groceries.

“There’s some of them that I know only leave the house once a month, and they tell me that when they get on the bus,” Thurston said. “So I try to interact with conversation and try to make them feel like family.”
