(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) has released the identity of a driver killed in a fiery crash on Dublin Boulevard at the beginning of April, as well as the factors believed to have led to the crash.
According to CSPD, officers originally responded to a report of a two-car crash just before 8:45 p.m. on April 1 to the 3900 block of Dublin Boulevard, near Cottonwood Creek Park. One of the involved cars reportedly caught fire immediately after the crash, CSPD said.
When officers arrived on scene, they determined the driver of the car that caught fire was killed. The driver of the other car was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
According to CSPD, the investigation revealed that a car was heading eastbound on Dublin at a high rate of speed when the driver failed to navigate a curve. The car jumped the center median and was hit by a car heading westbound on Dublin. After the collision, the eastbound car burst into flames.
On Wednesday, April 2, the El Paso County Coroner identified the driver killed as 25-year-old Ryan Jacob Zamora. CSPD said at this time, speed and alcohol appear to be factors in the crash.
This is the sixth deadly crash in Colorado Springs in 2025. At the same time in 2024, there had been 16 fatalities.
