Springs Utilities working to restore power to 1,400 in COS

(EL PASO COUNTY, Colo.) — Colorado Springs Utilities (Springs Utilities) is responding to multiple power outages affecting hundreds across Colorado Springs on early Tuesday morning, March 4.

At around 2 a.m., Springs Utilities began reporting that approximately 5,300 customers were impacted by multiple power outages in Colorado Springs. Parts of Colorado, including El Paso County, are under a High Wind Warning until 5 p.m. on Tuesday.


March 4, 2025: Closings and Delays

The FOX21 Storm Team said the severe weather forecast would impact travel and cause 60 mph wind gusts as well as reduced visibility and slushy roads. The City of Colorado Springs also warned that the winds could blow down trees and power lines.

At around 4:36 a.m., Springs Utilities reported that most customers had received power back.

“We have restored power for 75% of customers,” Springs Utilities wrote via X (formerly known as Twitter. “More repairs are taking place now to turn the lights on for the remaining 25%. Thank you for your patience.”

As of 6:30 a.m., around 1,400 Springs Utilities customers were still without power across the city.
