Suspect involved in three stabbings, homicide arrested

(COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.) —The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) arrested and charged a 20-year-old who had been involved in multiple assaults.

On July 17, CSPD responded to a call regarding a stabbing in the 500 block of East Cheyenne Road. Upon arrival, officers encountered a woman who was suffering from multiple stab wounds. She was taken to the hospital and treated for serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

CSPD’s crime analysts and detectives discovered the suspect involved in the stabbing had been responsible for a homicide that occurred on July 12 in the 700 block of East Cheyenne Road. In addition to another stabbing that occurred in Dec. 2023, involving a convenience store clerk who was attacked with a knife. The Assault Unit and Homicide began a joint investigation.

The suspect was finally identified as 20-year-old Ashton Murdock from Colorado Springs. Murdock was taken into custody on July 22 for the 2023 assault, then on July 25 he was charged with the July 17 assault. On Wednesday, July 29, he was also charged with first-degree murder.
