DENVER (KDVR) — Witnesses described seeing a plane weaving back and forth before crashing in front of an Arvada home Friday.

The plane crashed near Oberon Road and Carr Street around 9:30 a.m.

Evan Sherlock said he was about to run an errand when he noticed the plane “really low in the sky,” and said it appeared to be “weaving back and forth and dipping its wings.”

“Being super concerned that it was so low, I kept driving but I looked in the rearview mirror, and next thing I knew it was gone,” he said.

He turned around and saw that the plane had crashed.

“It ended up in someone’s front yard, which is particularly scary,” he said.

Neighbors began coming outside and Sherlock said first responders arrived very quickly. He said there were construction crews nearby that also came to help.

Some bystanders were sitting on curbs watching and some were running to get water and attend to the needs of people who Sherlocks said he believes got out of the plane, but he was not sure.

Sherlock snapped a photo of the plane engulfed in flames after the crash. One bystander appeared to be using a yard hose to put water on the flames.

“I couldn’t believe that’s what I just saw. I was hoping that it was doing something else,” said Sherlock. “I could see smoke coming out of it, and at first it looked like a crop duster to me. and then I was like ‘There’s no way, why would you be crop dusting in Arvada?’ But obviously something was mechanically wrong with the airplane, and it was just entirely too low for it to be doing anything safe.”

One neighbor told FOX31 that they saw the smoke come up and they ran to the house and helped pull people out of the wreckage.

Sherlock said there was debris in the road and front yard. He also said it appeared that part of the plane hit a nearby pickup truck.

Sherlock added that first responders were on the scene very quickly and said they appeared to have the situation under control.

FOX31’s Samantha Spitz described the scene and said police had roads blocked off and many first responders were on the scene.

The Arvada Police Department confirmed that there were four people taken to a hospital, two adults and two juveniles. The extent of their injuries is unknown and police did not confirm whether all four were on board the plane when it crashed.

This is a developing story. FOX31 will update this article when more information becomes available.
